The objectives and functions of the Radio Committee shall be to:
- Foster a proper awareness of safety at sea through routine radio reporting and regular monitoring of weather reports.
- Encourage members to participate in the activities, and utilise the services, of the Radio Section.
- Train and roster operators to man the Club's radio tower (VJ6LS) on weekends and public holidays.
- Ensure that VJ6LS provides an effective boating communications, weather and navigational reports service for members.
- Initiate sea rescues (in conjunction with the Fremantle Volunteer Sea Rescue Group, Department of Transport (Maritime Division) and the Water Police - all under the authority of Marine Emergency Operations Centre (MEOC), as may be necessary.
- Provide communications between the Club and Activity Sections taking part in Club events.
- Extend help and advice on radio equipment and communications practice to any member or activity section, if so requested by that member or section.
- Ensure that all Club equipment is maintained in serviceable condition.
- Prepare a budget of income and expenditure for submission through the Finance Committee to the Board of Management for approval.
