Courses

"Sailing may be based on science but it is more usually defined as art.  Understanding the science comes quickly but mastering the art takes time."

FSC is a Yachting Australia accredited training organisation providing courses for the novice or intermediate sailor.  At Fremantle Sailing Club we have a beautiful protected pond with a beach inside the breakwater wall providing a safe, controlled environment to learn in.

Our training courses are open to the general public, affiliated Cubs and members.

The FSC Academy Principal is Arthur ‘AB’ Brett, who has an impressive sailing history, together with his team of  highly skilled instructors are all affiliated to Yachting Australia and deliver exemplary training courses.

CURRENT COURSES:

Get into Small Boat Sailing (GISBS)
This course is designed to provide an enjoyable introduction to small boat sailing for novices. The course includes an introduction to fundamental boat handling skills and essential knowledge that will allow participants the freedom of sailing small boats in controlled conditions (light winds, enclosed waters) without guidance.

The Get Into Small Boat Sailing program is intended for both skippers and crews of dinghies with the roles interchanging during the program.

Sailing is a safe and enjoyable sport for all adults and kids!

The only prerequisite is the ability to swim (50m for Level 1 and 100m for Level 2).

Fremantle Sailing Club runs classes for students aged between 8 and 15 years after school, at weekends and during the school holidays.

All participants will get a log book recording their achievements and a Certificate of Completion at the end of the course. Each course is comprised of five 3 hour sessions.
