Learn to Sail Keelboats

Introduction to Keelboats

This is the practical part of the Keel Boat Competent Crew Scheme. Adults can undertake this training which is concerned with the basic skills required to sail a keelboat safely. The training courses are intended for both skippers and crews of Keel Boats with the roles interchanging during the course.

The course syllabus will include:

1.    Rigging

2.    Leaving and returning the shore

3.    Basic sailing skills

4.    Man overboard

5.    Understanding the “Rules of the Road” at Sea

6.    Rope work

Nominal duration of the course is 12 hours
