The Race
This Sunday the Fremantle Port comes alive when 30 yachts put on a display of skill and daring in the annual Club Marine Fremantle Harbour Classic.
This spectacle is the only sailing event of its kind. It is Perth’s best of the best invitational race.
A “Pursuit Race” in a confined harbour… it is heart pumping adrenalin, a showcase of exceptional skills and excitement at every turn.
This year we have attracted several new competitors including the beautifully sleek Farr 47 Sled and the fastest 2009 Geraldton Ocean Classic yacht Al Fresco. Local favorites The Next Factor, This Way Up and Finistere all return to see if they can hold off last year’s winner Optimus Prime and claim the coveted title of “Harbour Classic Winner”. But don’t under estimate the smaller yachts, previous winner Max returns alongside Traffic Jam and Mind’s Eye to out sail the larger yachts and give them a run for their money.
It’s your last chance to observe Knee Deep, one of WA’s Sydney to Hobart entrant up close and in action before they depart for the east coast. Come and see if they have what it takes!
