Mandurah Invaded By Fremantle Sailing Club
Power Section – Easter Weekend: 15-16-17 April 2006
Written by Col Lockley, Pictures by Keith Sandham

The “Weather Gods” treated us extremely well, and we had perfect weather for the trip to the Mandurah Offshore Fishing and Sailing Club (MOFSC). Not everyone attended the briefing as some were already at sea – but all Risk Management Data was transmitted mid-week to ensure that everyone was briefed. There were 19 vessels that made the journey south – always a popular trip and MOFSC Bosun Tony “wrestled” with the size of some of the FSC vessels - but managed to find everyone a berth and ensure we were all comfortable.

Dinner on Saturday Night saw 52 Power Section members and guests at the MOFSC restaurant, with a further 10 dining in town, and another 4 enjoying drinks but no dinner – a total of 66 members and Guests.

Saturday and Sunday saw our members walking around town, visiting the local tourist spots and absolutely “peppering” the Rivers Wholesale Warehouse. The “Best-Dressed” Power Section in the State. Sunday dawned with a few members cruising back early for family and work commitments; those that remained enjoyed a fabulous BBQ at MOFSC. Weather on Sunday was sometimes “frowsy” – but not too bad a day!

Memorable Events – Ron Amour’s Seafood BBQ Packs – Lloyd and Toni (Magellan II) “hydroplaning” past us (then – everyone did!!!)–Keith Sandham (Raptor) actually “touching the water” on several occasions on the trip down – and Martin (“My Body is a Temple”) Box entertaining us all at the BBQ. (Through a Glass-warmly!)

Monday – the weather and the trip home was unbelievably good – flat, very little breeze, the occasional dolphin – and as per usual – every FSC Power Vessel passing me. A fabulous weekend!!

Editor: Our thanks to Col and Lyn for making the arrangements with MOFSC and ensuring the weekend went without a hitch. They lead the fleet in organization!
