BANTAMWEIGHTS AND DOUBLE-HANDERS IGNITE THE VALMADRE SERIES

With the bulk of WA’s big boats either playing in the tropics or undergoing refits, it has been left to the smaller yachts to fight out the 2017 Valmadre Cup Winter Offshore Series. And in Saturday’s first event, the Arlene Race, fight they did!

INSHORE WINTER SERIES RACE 2 – RACE REPORT

Sparkling conditions attracted forty-nine boats to the waters off Fremantle for the second race of the FSC Inshore Winter Series last Saturday. The race began in frustrating conditions as a dying north-easterly wind stranded some of the fleet short of the start and left other competitors struggling to make the first mark. Fortunately, a light seabreeze filled in after an hour or so of mirror-like drifting, completely changing the dynamics of the course (course 11), but providing lovely sailing conditions. Anchored and motoring powerboats added a degree of difficulty to the race. To the relief of many competitors, race control shortened the course at B mark at the end of the first lap so everyone that successfully started (except for a couple of boats that made course errors) finished the race.

SKIPPY WONDERLAND

Skippy haven’t been fooled by the balmy start to winter. At least they know it’s winter!
The monthly weekend fishing competition was dominated by hauls of skippy with several anglers bagging out on the limit of eight per person.

Destinations WA

We excited to announce that FSC will feature on the popular TV program ‘Destinations WA’ – the episode will be filmed at the Club this Saturday 17th June…..
