About Fremantle Sailing Club's Angling Section
The aims of the Fremantle Sailing Club’s Angling Section is to promote the sport of fishing in a competitive environment, whilst practicing conservation by monitoring and preserving fish stocks.
Our section host a number of fishing competitions and clinics throughout the year, and like to enjoy the fruits of our labour with a season wind-up.
Conservation
A new standard has been set in the preservation of fish stocks with the implementation of ‘Species Fishing’ to our competition rules. This has created a completely new approach with anglers having to apply greater skills in aiming to catch fewer fish over a wide range of species. The result has proved to be a benevolent approach to our fish stocks and an escalating challenge to anglers to diversify and aim to bring in a greater variety in place of quantity. The ‘CATCH’ word is conservation.
Our Fishing Clinics
The Angling section hold monthly Fishing Clinics at Fremantle Sailing Club’s, primarily on the Club’s boat ‘Success’, which has seen a number of enthusiastic new faces extending their fishing skills each season. These monthly trips on ‘Success’ are a privileged approach made by the Club through the Section to improve new Members’ interests in Angling both inshore and offshore.
Kids Fishing Clinics
We run number of Kids Fishing Clinics during the school holiday’s throughout the year. These are great for children aged 7 to 15 years old, where they will learn a bit of theory and the basics of learning to catch a fish. These events run for a full day with lunch and ice-creams provided. All adult Club Supervisors have Working With Children Cheques. Terms & Conditions can be found here.
Our Events
Our annual angling programs consist of monthly weekend, mid-week and social fishing activities scheduled throughout the year. You can find more information about our upcoming events on our Angling Section page. We also enjoy a Christmas party, Seafood BBQ and a wind up Trophy Presentation Dinner to complete a very stimulating season.

Fremantle Sailing Club is home to 3200 members and is located in Perth, Western Australia on the beautiful Indian Ocean.
As the largest ocean club in Australia, our members enjoy a full calendar of annual events of an array of water sport activities and off-water events. We also have wonderful function and dining facilities that overlook our marina.
