TOPIC NIGHTS | “Protecting an Island Paradise – planning for the Houtman Abrolhos Islands National Park”
Event Navigation

The Houtman Abrolhos Islands National Park was created on 25 July 2019 and includes the uninhabited islands to be managed by Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA). DBCA is upgrading visitor facilities on East Wallabi and Beacon Islands in the Wallabi Group, which will include the construction of new jetties, toilets, walk trails, boardwalks and shelters. A management plan for the national park is in preparation, which will outline the protection of the islands’ significant biodiversity (such as sealions and seabirds), cultural heritage and tourism and visitor use values.
