2018 COCK OF THE ROCK

Many Inshore boats joined the crowd participating in the annual Cock of the Rock last Sunday. The Cock of the Rock is a casual and fun event – as long as you round Philip Rock and finish at 3pm you could start any time you liked over the Easter Weekend and sail any course you wanted.

Perfect conditions helped the boats that made a day-sail of it on Sunday with a light south easterly breeze pushing us across to Rotto and swinging to the south west to bring us home on a tight reach.  Dolphins, friends, family, food and drink were the order of the day.  As the 3pm finish time drew near (and the wind increased) several dozen boats converged on the line jostling not to be over early.

In the end it didn’t matter who was first as all participants received the traditional participation prize – a limited edition t-shirt for each boat.  Thanks as always to organizer Matt Duff, his helpers and the numerous Sponsors (we now know who to see if we want to buy an oil rig or maintain one – thanks to Matt’s helpful itemisation of the Sponsors talents), and to the wonderful Paul Daly and the Heavy Hitters who got us dancing.  A few photos from the point of view of Pipedream III are below…
