2018 Offshore Racing Calendar in February

The Pot of Gold : Saturday 3rd February

The Pot of Gold Race from Fremantle to Hillarys commenced in 1994. It was an event created by HYC to encourage sailors throughout WA to compete in a Regatta in Offshore and Inshore on the same day with a presentation and celebration in the Clubhouse.

Prizes are presented in gold coins after the race at Hillary’s Yacht Club and over its lifetime over $100,000 has been distributed.

 Fremantle Sailing Club Galley will be open from 0700 for that pre-race coffee !

 

The Shepherdess Cup & Windward Leeward Races : Sunday 4th February

The Shepherdess Cup Races is the return to Fremantle Sailing Club, with Windward Leeward racing beforehand.  These races are part of the Northern Regatta. Details in the Yellow Book : Click here

On return to Fremantle, there will be the weekly Sunday Session with live music, Happy Hour prices from 1400-1800 and Spit Roast delight.

 

Around the Sound  : Saturday 10th February

The Around the Sound on Saturday 10th, and 3 Windward Leeward Races on Sunday 11th, are the fourth and fifth races of the Northern Regatta.  The Around the Sound race is an inshore sheltered race held in Cockburn Sound in the vicinity of Garden and Carnac Islands.

In 2017-18 season, the  “Around the Sound”, sponsored by OH&S Consulting, will be conducted on Saturday 10th February 2018 starting off Fremantle commencing with the Double Handed Division at 0925 hrs.

Trophies will be presented for both IRC and YAH.  Results for this race will count towards the Offshore Series, Northern Regatta and the SOPYC Offshore Cup.

70th Bunbury and Return Ocean Race : Race start Friday evening 23rd February   

The 170 nautical mile race starts in Fremantle and takes the fleet south to Koombana Bay . They complete a short lap of the bay along the Bunbury foreshore before turning north for the finish off South Mole in Fremantle. All yachts carry tracking devices which allows anyone to watch the race online or on their mobile device.
