Mark your calendars, come to the AGM and make sure you have your say in the selection of your committee for the coming year.

RACE REPORTS AND PHOTOS

You will be able to find the reports and photos for previous races on the Inshore News page with older reports in the archives.

NEW BUOYS

Have you found it a little easier to find S (and other marks)?  We have five new race marks which are an improvement on the older ones (being slightly larger and marked with reflective strips) and have replaced Marks L, W, S, H and D.  The original buoys that are still serviceable will be refurbished as spares, while the Harbour Master is sourcing additional replacements.

INSHORE WINTER SERIES IS UNDER WAY

If you haven’t done so already, you can still enter the Inshore Winter Series – Seven great races, now with the option to sail double handed with spinnakers as well as the traditional Divisions 1, 2, and Jib and Main.

If you would like any further information on any of the Sailing at FSC please contact either Travis or Scott on 9435 8800.

Full details and link to Inshore Series registration form are on the club website.

PHOTOS FROM THE SUMMER SERIES

Relive all the thrills and spills of the summer series with the Summer Series presentation photo slideshow.  You can check out the slideshow on Onedrive.

You may have noticed that Chris Bender has been taking photos from the start boat (at some, not all of our races) and that many of these photos have been incorporated into the Race Reports.  Thanks to Chris for this – you can peruse all of Chris’s photos so far on OneDrive.

REMINDER TO KEEP CLEAR OF STARTING AREA DURING THE START SEQUENCE FOR OTHER FLEETS

All competitors are reminded of the following section of the Inshore 2017-18 Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions (available in the Red Book):

SI 16.4 Boats whose warning signal has not been made shall keep clear of the starting area during the start sequence for other fleets.

RED BOOK AND CALENDAR AVAILABLE

The 2017-18  Red Book is available from reception and is also available for download (along with the season calendar) from the club website.  Please take time to review the inshore section, in particular the courses as they have been renumbered!

RADIO LOG-ON PROCEDURE – CALL “INSHORE RACE CONTROL” NOT “SUCCESS

FSC 2017-18 Sailing Handbook SI 3.1.1 requires all yachts competing to “Log on by radio to Fremantle Inshore Race Control on VHF 72” and not Success.

This is so that our Start Team may utilise an alternative start boat should the need arise, or respond from shore should that be required.  Please ensure this procedure is followed and if you’re reading this ensure your skipper is reminded.  Thanks to all competitors who have been following this requirement.

RACE DAY CREW LIST/ CREWING EXPRESSION OF INTEREST Q&A

Two initiatives for skippers and sailors have been implemented with the assistance of the Sailing Office; the Crew Board near the ramp on Sunset Deck and the Crewing Expression of Interest on the FSC website.

Q. How can you benefit from the Crew Board?

A. If looking for last minute crew on race-day, write your details on the top section.  Walk-ins or enquiries will be directed to the board to look you up. If there are crewing names written up, please ensure you contact them.

The sailing office will clear this board weekly and interested crew will be contacted to see if they have sailed, or wish to transfer to the website crewing list.

Q. How do I access the Crewing Expression of Interest?

A. Here https://www.fsc.com.au/onwater/crew-eoi/download the PDF report of sign ups.

If you are successful in recruiting a crew member, please advise the Sailing Officesailingmanager@fsc.com.au or have the crew member email-in successful placement.  The list will be checked 3-monthly.

Q. What are FSC doing for new-sign ups?

A. New sign-ups will be contacted by indicated sailing sections and the Sailing Office for an invite to Wednesday Twilight to introduce them to the club.
