Dear Members,

Updates on COVID-19 have been provided through Fremantle Sailing Club channels and as everyone knows, this situation is changing daily and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. We are adapting FSC operations to meet health & hygiene requirements in order to maintain On Water activities where possible as well as normal Bar & Galley operations. Despite all this, some events have been cancelled or postponed.

To date, we are not aware of anyone related to Fremantle Sailing Club being directly infected by the virus, however, we have agreed the following decisions to protect the well-being of our members, guests, volunteers, and staff:

General Meeting of Members – Thursday 26th March, has been postponed until a later date to be advised

Upcoming On Water & Club events cancelled or postponed to a later date include:

Commodore’s Cup – Sunday 22nd March

Ladies Luncheon – Wednesday 25th March

Topic Nights in March & April – cancelled

Treasures of the Bilge – Sunday 29th March

Kid’s Try Sail Courses – April School Holidays

Kid’s Angling Clinic – April School Holidays

Keelboat Courses – April course cancelled – May, June & July will proceed at this stage

Fremantle to Bali  Race & Rally – Saturday 9th May, postponed until May 2021

Other Boating Activities – subject to change at short notice

Twilight Sailing Race – Wednesday 18th March is the last one and will go ahead subject to weather & conditions prevailing

Inshore Racing Consistency Races 14 & 15 will proceed as scheduled but presentations will only be held in outside areas – continuing races

Cock of the Rock (Inshore Race) – Sunday 29th March, race will proceed as scheduled, but post-event gathering and presentation will be decided on the day

Fremantle to Exmouth Ocean Race & Rally – departure planned for Saturday 9th May

Note: owner/skipper and crew of each boat are ultimately responsible for deciding to participate.

Committee & Section Meetings
As these are all only relatively small groups, we will leave it up to the respective Chairperson of each Section or Committee to decide on the requirement to have a monthly meeting or postpone to a later date. There are a number of other activities on our Events Calendar and advice regarding those proceeding or cancelling will be provided in further regular updates.

House Activities
Reception & Office staff will continue to operate normal hours, but with slightly reduced staff levels

Food & Beverage services in the Sailors Bar and Galley will continue as per advertised hours until further notice

The Friday Night Buffet has been temporarily suspended but has been replaced by a $35 special 2-course menu with a glass of wine – full a la carte menu will also still, be available

Tables in the Galley Restaurant are well spaced to allow for the recommended social distancing between groups

Fremantle Sailing Club reiterate to Members that we and the rest of the world are experiencing unprecedented times and need to comply with Government and Health guidelines in the best interests of protecting everyone who attends our premises. We are currently running very low on stock of hand-sanitizer and request everyone to wash their hands with hot soapy water immediately on entry. The next delivery is approx. 2 weeks away.
We appreciate your understanding and co-operation as we manage our Club and facility through this difficult time and thank you for your continued support.
