FSC Duty Officer LogoThe Duty Officers are a voluntary section who act as ‘Ambassadors’ for the Club in regard to members and visitor requirements and other related activities.

The Duty Officers attend the Club on a weekend roster basis (usually on about a six week rotation) to provide a friendly presence in the Club, and to offer a point of contact to members and visitors when the full time staff are not present.

Matters requiring the attention of the Harbour Master, or other FSC staff can generally be handled by Duty Officer contact with the appropriate person.

Roster hours are 1pm to 5pm on a Saturday and 11am to 4pm on a Sunday.

Duty Officers are also in attendance on special Club events such as Opening Day, Regattas, Open Day and Melbourne Cup Lunch. The Duty Officers also organise and manage the Children’s Christmas Party each year.

As well as assisting members and visitors, the Duty Officers also ensure that Club rules are followed and an appropriate standard of dress and behaviour is observed on the premises.

Duty Officer Section meetings are held on a bi-monthly basis at 11am in the Boardroom on a Sunday.

Any member who is interested in joining this Section should direct their enquiries to the Membership Coordinator .

The Duty Officer Section of the Club is looking to increase the number of volunteer members of this group.

Duty Officers are rostered on at weekends (Saturday or Sunday for four/five hours) and for special occasions. The normal frequency for rostered duty is about once in every six weeks.

Duty Officers are effectively “Ambassadors” for the Club. The role includes handling enquiries, meeting visitors, assisting in maintaining Club Rules and Procedures, pen and jetty inspections and other varied tasks. The Duty Officers provide a formal contact within the Club when the full time staff are not in attendance. It also provides an opportunity to meet and interact with many Club members.

Uniforms are provided by the Club.

Any member interested in becoming a Duty Officer is asked to call Rex Baker (Chief Duty Officer) on 0412 380 751, if they would like to know more about joining the Section.
